Q:  WHO IS APPROPRIATE FOR THE PROGRAM?
A:  Any Hoover City Schools student, grades 6-8 who:
            •  has demonstrated behaviors putting them at risk of harm
            •  is demonstrating a decline in grades, attendance, and behavior
            •  is making unhealthy choices
            •  has made poor peer choices
            •  is having communication challenges within the family
            •  has difficulty managing stress, anxiety, or anger
            •  wants to improve family communication.

At least one parent/guardian must attend the sessions with their child.  This is a program with an emphasis on strengthening family relationships.

Q:  WHERE AND WHEN DOES THE PROGRAM TAKE PLACE?
A:  Middle Ground meets Tuesday evenings, 6:30-8:30 p.m., for 6 consecutive weeks. These 6 week sessions are offered to our families three times during the regular school year.  These meetings are held at the Old Berry High/Middle School campus, 2826 Columbiana Road, Hoover, AL 35216. (map)

Q:  HOW DO WE ENROLL IN THE PROGRAM?
A:  You may talk with your child’s Counselor, Principal, or Assistant Principal at school to enroll in the program, or you may contact the Middle Ground Program Coordinator, Liz Fry, at 439-2990, or the Middle Ground Program Secretary, Linda Lewis, at 439-1809.  This is a free program and any inquiry and/or participation in the program will be kept confidential.

Q:  WHAT IS THE FORMAT OF THE PROGRAM?
A:  Each session is designed to be interactive between students, parents, and the facilitators.  It is designed to be educational and fun.  Facilitators are experienced, energetic individuals who bring families together in a relaxed personal environment.  We meet with parents and students together for the first hour then divide the groups where the parents and students have an opportunity to meet separately for the next hour.
