The Bridges Program

The Bridges Program focuses on addressing issues which might negatively influence students, while providing the resources and support needed to strengthen both the student and the family system. The goal of The Bridges Program is to help resolve problems which interfere with a teen’s educational, social, or emotional progress.

The Bridges Program is available to any Hoover City Schools student in grades 6 – 12, and their parent(s), and focuses on helping students make positive life choices toward overall success. This early intervention family education program utilizes trained master’s-level counselors to help coach students and families to improve family communication, build resistance against tobacco, alcohol and other drug use, reduce stress and anxiety, while promoting respect for themselves and others. In a fun and relaxed environment, this four week program (8 consecutive sessions), allows teens and families to support and encourage one another, as well as identify a positive support network around them, while gaining new insight to achieve success for every student.

Session Topics Include:

Effective Communication - Active Listening

Peer Pressure - Managing & Avoiding Conflict

Substance Use and Its Effect on the Family

Establishing Trust - Building Positive Support Networks

The Bridges Program is a confidential program provided to HCS students at no charge to the family. All inquiries and participation in the program are kept confidential.
